GloPoWriMo: Day XVII: Nocturne

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt is to pen a Nocturne – a composition capturing or set to the spirit of the night, usually set to piano music – but as a poem. so if you fall asleep reading this dear readers, I suppose I’ll take it as a compliment : D

As an added element I suggest you put on your favourite nocturne, settle in, and then read on. NaPoWriMo suggests Chopin’s Op. 9 No. 2. Or you could listen to what I had playing in my head as I was writing – Brahm’s Lullaby.

Drift-less
Aimless
Like a grain of salt in the sea

Wafting
Flowing
A speck of sand in a desert breeze

Senseless
Thoughtless
What am I, What can I be?

Listless
Pointless
I am you and you are me

Standing
Waiting
I exist, still I seize

Awe-less
Ire-less
From these I am free

No Reason – Day XXIX – NaPoWriMo 2014

One by one they fell
As the wind struck its death knell
Men of honor and pride
Their sabers by their side

As each did breathe their last
As each’s time did pass
The grass was painted crimson
As each escaped their flesh toned prison

In an instant high above
Past both hate or love
Seeing as if in a dream
The world they once did teem

And knew none which or why
Side they took in this lie
This pointless endeavor
To divide, to sever

For now they were no colors
No us, no others
There was but the light
And no longer reason to fight

Shaanti – Day XII – NaPoWriMo 2014

This room, where I sit
Is quiet and unlit
It’s perfect, in that sense
For me

For you see, dear friend
It’s where it all ends
The chatter
And cacophony

The world melts away
As I gently sway
Between this realm
And a dream

And I find
You should mind
Some peace, at last
For now, at least, it seems

Who knows, how long
The silence will stay strong
I’ll enjoy it, I guess
While I may

The world seems too loud
And men seem too proud
And that’s all, I think
I’ll say
